Dr. Hythem Shadid treats all shoulder conditions ranging from shoulder instability to osteoarthritis of the shoulder.
When possible, Dr. Shadid uses minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques to perform surgeries such as shoulder stabilization (labral repair) and rotator cuff repair. These techniques allow for quicker recovery after surgery, reduced post-operative pain and improved scar cosmesis.
In cases of severe osteoarthritis of the shoulder Dr. Shadid performs both anatomic and reverse total shoulder replacements. Most shoulder replacement surgeries are now performed on an outpatient (day surgery) basis. Dr. Shadid uses new 3D planning software to plan a shoulder replacement that is specific to each patient’s anatomy. He also often has patient specific guides engineered to achieve optimal positioning of the patient’s new shoulder. After recovery from total shoulder replacement patients can expect significant improvements in both their pain and functioning.
